Worse than Show Tunes

I recently got an XM satellite radio which can play in the car. I envisioned long car journeys with Sarah where we battled between Air America, BBC World Service & Major League baseball.

I forgot to account for the "Maaaaah" factor.

Now, when we all get in the car, Grace immediately points to the car stereo and continually announces the phrase that pays: Maaaah. Essentially it is a catchall which can mean either More, or I Want. However, she is not interested in satellite radio. Her interest is in the CD which has taken up permanent residence in the stereo: "Music Together." Two words that can make any parent shudder. Imagine 28 tunes, most of which we know from childhood, like" She'll be comin around the Mountain," & "Shoo Fly," sung with perfect political correctness by a rainbow of bland voiced drones and you begin to get the idea. And Grace simply must hear it for most of the journey, or we get repeated Maaah's followed by incessant crying.

But then when we get out of the car, she tries to give her dad 4 kisses before we make it up the stairs, and suddenly all is forgiven.

I recommend you keep her from learning about the existence of Up With People.
